（中央社記者李先鳳花蓮縣2014年9月17日電）一列環島觀光列車今天下午在花蓮光復至富源站發生機車頭故障，影響上下行2列次班車共350人，台鐵表示，將全部退費；這是東部首次發生環島觀光列車故障事故。
台鐵花蓮運務段長張建曆表示，下午4時左右，載有120人的環島觀光列車南下，行經光復站和富源站間機車頭故障，此一路段還是單軌，因此，也影響北上427次自強號，延誤94分鐘。
張建曆說，事故發生後，緊急由花蓮站開出自強號救援，將這列環島觀光列車推回光復，換機車頭再行駛，延誤80分鐘，由於都超過賠償標準，除致贈礦泉水向乘客道歉外，全部賠償票價金額。
